Notably, there has been an increase in reports of hate crimes committed abroad against the Indian diaspora.
Indians have been attacked in Canada as well. Following many occurrences this year, Ministry of External Affairs issued a very stern warning against what it called a "sharp spike in incidents of hate crimes, sectarian violence, and anti-India actions in Canada."
The United States, too, has seen an increase in attacks on the Indian diaspora; the MEA has investigated incidences of violence and claimed hate crimes against Indian citizens, as well as US residents of Indian descent living in the United States.
