ਨਿਆਗਰਾ ਫਾਲਜ਼ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਊਯਾਰਕ ਸਿਟੀ ਵਾਪਸ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਟੂਰ ਬੱਸ ਸ਼ੁੱਕਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਇੰਟਰਸਟੇਟ ਹਾਈਵੇ 'ਤੇ ਪਲਟ ਗਈ, ਜਿਸ 'ਚ 50 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਯਾਤਰੀ ਸਵਾਰ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਤੇ ਕਈ ਹੋਰ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਪੁਲੀਸ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ।

ਇਹ ਹਾਦਸਾ ਆਈ-90 'ਤੇ ਪੈਮਬਰੋਕ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ, ਜੋ ਬਫ਼ਲੋ ਤੋਂ ਲਗਭਗ 25 ਮੀਲ ਪੂਰਬ ਹੈ। ਟੱਕਰ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਖਿੜਕੀਆਂ ਟੁੱਟਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਈ ਲੋਕ ਬੱਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਡਿੱਗ ਗਏ।

“ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਕਈ ਮੌਤਾਂ, ਕਈ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਤੇ ਕਈ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਹੈ,” ਨਿਊਯਾਰਕ ਸਟੇਟ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਦੇ ਬੁਲਾਰੇ ਟਰੂਪਰ ਜੇਮਜ਼ ਓ’ਕੈਲਹੈਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ।

ਕਈ ਐਂਬੂਲੈਂਸਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਹੈਲੀਕਾਪਟਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਰੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ। ਓ’ਕੈਲਹੈਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਬੱਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਯਾਤਰੀ ਭਾਰਤੀ, ਚੀਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਲੀਪੀਨੀ ਸਨ, ਤੇ ਘਟਨਾ ਸਥਾਨ 'ਤੇ ਦੁਭਾਸ਼ੀਏ ਬੁਲਾਏ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਡਰਾਈਵਰ ਬਚ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

“ਬੱਸ ਪੂਰਬ ਵੱਲ ਪੈਮਬਰੋਕ ਐਗਜ਼ਿਟ ਤੋਂ ਠੀਕ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਣਜਾਣ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਮੀਡਿਅਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੜ੍ਹ ਗਈ, ਫਿਰ ਓਵਰਕਰੈਕਟ ਕਰ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਸੜਕ ਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਖੱਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਲਟ ਗਈ,” ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ।

ਮਿਲੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ, ਫ਼ਲਾਈਟ ਏਅਰ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਟ੍ਰਾਂਸਪੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਹੈਲੀਕਾਪਟਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਰੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਇਆ। ਬਫ਼ਲੋ ਦਾ ਈਰੀ ਕਾਊਂਟੀ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਸੈਂਟਰ (ਈਸੀਐਮਸੀ) ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦੁਪਹਿਰ 2:10 ਵਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਘੱਟੋ ਘੱਟ 8 ਮਰੀਜ਼ ਉੱਥੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਸਨ।

ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਰ ਤਿੰਨ ਹੈਲੀਕਾਪਟਰ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਐਂਬੂਲੈਂਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਸਥਾਨ 'ਤੇ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਗਿਆ। “ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਹੈ,” ਮਰਸੀ ਫ਼ਲਾਈਟ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮਾਰਗਰੇਟ ਫੈਰਨਟੀਨੋ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ। “ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਪੀੜਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਦੁਆ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ।”

ਨਿਊਯਾਰਕ ਸਟੇਟ ਥਰੂਵੇ ਅਥਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸੜਕ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਦੋਹੀਂ ਦਿਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੇਤਰ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਨਿਊਯਾਰਕ ਦੀ ਗਵਰਨਰ ਕੈਥੀ ਹੋਚੁਲ ਨੇ X 'ਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਇਸ “ਦੁੱਖਦਾਇਕ ਟੂਰ ਬੱਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ” ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਦਫ਼ਤਰ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਅਤੇ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਬਿਆਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਸੜਕਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਟਰੈਕਟਰ-ਟ੍ਰੇਲਰ ਟਰੱਕ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੱਧਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਬਣ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਅਮਰੀਕੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਰਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਸਗੋਂ ਦੇਸੀ ਟਰੱਕਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ-ਰੋਟੀ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕਦਮ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਸੀ ਟਰੱਕ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿੱਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਕੇਂਟਾਕੁਮਾਰ ਚੌਧਰੀ, ਉਰਫ ਕੇਨ ਚੌਧਰੀ, ਉਮਰ 36 ਸਾਲ, ਐਲਖੋਰਨ, ਨੇਬਰਾਸਕਾ , ਰਸ਼ਮੀ ਅਜੀਤ ਸਮਾਨੀ, ਉਰਫ ਫਾਲਗੁਨੀ ਸਮਾਨੀ, ਉਮਰ 42 ਸਾਲ, ਐਲਖੋਰਨ, ਨੇਬਰਾਸਕਾ , ਅਮਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦਭਾਈ ਚੌਧਰੀ, ਉਰਫ ਅਮਿਤ, ਉਮਰ 32 ਸਾਲ, ਓਮਾਹਾ, ਅਮਿਤ ਬਾਬੂਭਾਈ ਚੌਧਰੀ, ਉਰਫ ਮੈਟ, ਉਮਰ 33 ਸਾਲ, ਓਮਾਹਾ, ਮਹੇਸ਼ਕੁਮਾਰ ਚੌਧਰੀ, ਉਰਫ ਮਹੇਸ਼, ਉਮਰ 38 ਸਾਲ, ਨੌਰਫੋਕ, ਨੇਬਰਾਸਕਾ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

According to eyewitnesses, attackers were already waiting near the premises and opened indiscriminate fire as soon as Verma arrived.

He was critically injured in the firing and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Police have launched an investigation and are scanning CCTV footage to identify the assailants.

ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਮਲਾਵਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਈ ਸੀਸੀਟੀਵੀ ਫੁਟੇਜ ਖੰਗਾਲੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਇੱਕ ਡਾਕਟਰ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਟਰਸਟ ਆਫ ਇੰਡੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਘੱਟੋ ਘੱਟ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਇਸ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਾ ਬਚਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਐਸੋਸੀਏਟਿਡ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਤਸਦੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਈ।

ਗੁਜਰਾਤ ਸਿਹਤ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਈ DNA ਟੈਸਟ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
