Liberal Carbon Tax will now be replaced with Conservatives’ climate plan
For the past many years, the liberal carbon tax has been criticized where the Climate plan has been now proposed by the conservative party which also adds price on carbon for consumers. This information has come up from a copy of the party’s climate change plan.
Conservative leader Erin O’Toole has proposed to levy charges on fuel purchases with the consumption of money to fund personalized savings accounts, which will then be used by Canada Citizens for environmentally friendly purchases. This new plan has now come up in place of the Liberal carbon tax and rebate system.
As per the plan, Canadians will now pay a carbon levy amounting to $20 per tonne of greenhouse gas emissions for the times they buy hydrocarbon-based fuels like gas.
The money with not go to the direct rebates of Canadian households but it will now go to the “Personal Low carbon savings account” as per the new plan.
In the document, it is mentioned, “things that help them live a greener life which means buying a transit pass or a bicycle, or saving and investing the money to a new efficient money saving furnace, energy-efficient windows or even an electric vehicle."
