On the occasion of National Sports Day on Sunday, famed cricketer Sachin Tendulkar urged everyone to make playing a habit, saying that sports provide hope and joy even in the "most trying conditions."

Every year on August 29, India commemorates Major Dhyan Chand's birth anniversary by celebrating National Sports Day. Tendulkar posted a video on Instagram in which he can be seen playing cricket with children.

"Even under the most difficult circumstances, sport may provide hope and joy. Make playing a habit this #NationalSportsDay. Maintain a positive attitude toward ourselves and others around us " Tendulkar sent out a tweet.

Dhyan Chand was a great hockey player who was famed for his mystical abilities on the ice. He was a member of the Indian hockey team that won gold in 1928, 1932, and 1936 Olympics.

On National Sports Day, Indian hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh paid tribute to Dhyan Chand. "Champions are born from a desire to achieve a goal, a willingness to work hard, and a vision. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Indian hockey legend Dhyan Chand, I wish you all a very happy National Sports Day, August 29, 2021 " Sreejesh sent out a tweet.

Dhyan Chand's fame continues to inspire many hockey players, as evidenced by the fact that the national stadium in New Delhi is named after him.
