Brampton : Youth Arrested in Carjacking Investigation
Region of Peel – Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau have arrested a youth involved in a carjacking in the City of Brampton.
On Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at 10:27 a.m., the victim, a 28-year-old female, was in the driveway of her residence in the area of Castlemore Road and Gardenbrooke Trail in the City of Brampton. At this time, the accused and an unknown suspect approached the victim and brandished a knife. The victim was pushed to the ground and her car keys taken. The accused and suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle.
The victim did not suffer any physical injuries.
On Wednesday, September 2, 2020, the victim’s vehicle was located abandoned.
On Wednesday, September 9, 2020, investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau conducted a criminal code search warrant at a residence in the area of Castlemore Road and Clarkway Drive in Brampton.
The search warrant resulted in locating the accused within the residence.
A 17-year-old youth from Brampton has been charged with the following:
Robbery
Disguise with Intent
Fail to Comply with Release Order
He was held for a bail hearing and will attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Thursday, September 10, 2020.
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.
