Arrests Made in Chinguacousy Park Shooting Investigation

Region of Peel – The 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have arrested and charged two individuals from Brampton in relation to a shooting that occurred at Chinguacousy Park in Brampton.

On Monday, Aug. 4, 2025, at around 9:15 p.m., multiple shots were fired in the south end of the park. Officers on foot patrol in the park immediately responded, running toward the sound of gunfire.

Officers located three male victims, 16-18 years-old, suffering from gunshot wounds, but the suspects had already fled the area. Two of the victims were taken to hospital in serious condition, while the third victim sustained minor injuries. Thanks to the efforts of first responders and medical staff, there was no loss of life.

On Aug. 19, the two males were arrested and charged:

Malique Sahid (18)

Attempted Murder X4

Intentionally Discharge Firearm Recklessly

Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Weapon

Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition

Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition

Carrying a Concealed Weapon

Aggravated Assault X4

Young Person (17) 

Possession of a Loaded Prohibited/Restricted Weapon

Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Careless Storage of a Firearm

Possession of a Prohibited Device

Carrying a Concealed Weapon

Both individuals were held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.
