Plane carrying 4 Canadian skydivers hits beach in Mexico, 1 dead
PTC Web Desk: In southern Mexico, a plane carrying four Canadian skydivers made an emergency landing on a beach in Puerto Escondido, resulting in the tragic death of one on the ground. The incident occurred on Sunday, and though the plane remained largely intact, it landed in a populated area, almost directly on top of the victim. The nationality of the deceased was not disclosed.
While there is no immediate information on the cause of the plane's forced landing, the four Canadians and one Mexican on board were safely removed and are reported to be in "stable" condition after receiving medical attention. The Oaxaca state civil defence office is overseeing the situation.
Details regarding the names and hometowns of the Canadian individuals involved have not been provided. Fortunately, the wife of the deceased victim, who was in close proximity to the incident, escaped unharmed. The accident occurred just metre away from the water and very close to a wooden beach structure commonly used for restaurants in Puerto Escondido. Videos shared on social media captured beachgoers assisting at least one person from the aircraft onto the sand.
