Prithvi Shaw continued where he left off on the first day and smashed 379, the highest score by an Indian opener in First-Class cricket and the second-highest score in Ranji Trophy, next to Bhausaheb Nimbalkar historic 443, to lead Mumbai to a massive 687 for four in a crucial Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match against Assam.

On Wednesday at the Amingaon Cricket Ground, Shaw completed his first triple hundred in First-Class cricket in just 326 balls by hitting a single off Roshan Alam.

On Tuesday, January 10, Mumbai and Assam faced off, and Shaw finished the opening day of play unbeaten with a score of 240*(283), the highest of his career.

The 23-year-old outperformed the odds and earned his first-ever triple-hundred off just 326 deliveries during the second day of play. He scored a staggering 49 fours and four sixes in his ultimate knock of 379(383).

After the score Shaw casually starred up into the sky, removed his helmet, kissed the bat, and hugged Ajinkya Rahane, who played a captain’s knock of 191 as his teammates cheered his name from the dressing room.

Jay Shah, Secretary of BCCI congratulated Prithvi Shaw for breaking the record and tweeted “Another entry into the record books! What an extraordinary inning @PrithviShaw! Congratulations on hitting the second-highest Ranji Trophy score of all time. A talent with immense potential. Super proud! @BCCIdomestic "
